Employee Spotlight – Valeri Sotirov
Getting to know Valeri Sotirov, Team Leader at matrix Eastern Europe.
1. Do you remember the day you chose your profession?
I was a student in my 4th year and I did my homework. It was an algorithm written on Prolog. I wrote the program on paper.
My teacher checked it and told me that it would not work, that it was impossible! But it worked with the shortest and fastest solution 🙂
2. How did you choose to enter this role and what strengths did it develop?
Today I am a Scrum master. I was chosen by our customer to execute this role based on my technical experience, achievements, and the trust that I build with customers.
3. Why did you choose to work for Matrix Eastern Europe?
I remember my Interview, I was interviewed by a senior developer from Matrix. I can’t remember the questions but I do remember the positive attitude and friendly behavior.
After the positive feedback, I decided to go with Matrix and until this day, I feel this positive attitude, friendly environment and support for success from my colleagues and also from my managers.
4. What do you like most about your job?
Every day I am working with people that are amazing professionals and are also my friends. I can express my professional experience and bring value to myself and also to the customer, so I feel satisfied with what I am doing.
5. How do you manage to keep the work-life balance?
I must admit it is challenging since I have 2 kids at 6 and 10:)
Sport is the key for me, Snowboarding winter to be more specific. I also Swim and do jogging the rest of the time…
6. Tell us what is the main product that you’re working on.
I am working for Siemens- Process Simulate. This is a tool for digitalizing and simulation of Manufacture processes. I hope that in the future I’ll be able to build AI solutions for our customers and integrate them into Process Simulate.
7. What are the biggest challenges that you’re facing in your work and how do you overcome them?
Managing other people from the team is the prime challenge since it involves working with people and understanding their needs, which can be complicated. The way to overcome it is to find the right way to motivate and also force everyone to do their best.
8. What was your best day at work and why?
Only one day?! I can’t remember a specific day, but every day goes just perfectly. I would say that the past several years went wonderfully 🙂
9. What are you most proud of?
Working for Matrix for more than 14 years. All my best memories are connected with Matrix, my 2 kids were born during this time.
10. What tips can you give to a person who would so like to choose your profession?
First, ask yourself if this is the job that suits you, or if you find it as an interesting and challenging journey.
Is it because of money (we all know that these days you get a high wage in this profession), or is it a chance to meet interesting and intelligent colleagues?
